Connected Landscapes:
A kit of parts consisting of different sizes, colorways, and patterns, allowing for complete customization and configuration of a rug.
In 2020, RIOS set out to design a line of rugs that we could specify on our commercial, residential and hospitality projects. We were inspired by the very rich landscapes we find in our home state, California. We saw a gap in the marketplace on high-end rugs made by smaller components interlaced and merged. Our ultimate goal was to allow any designer to create their own unique composition from our kit of parts (a theme across all our collaborations)
My role:
Initial ideation and creation from storytelling to prototyping to visual concept
Generating the final patterns
Creating presentation to pitch to vendors
Managing production with vendor for color/material/finish
Commercialization (how many SKUs, how is it specified)
